THE DARLENE LUCKIE STORY
I was born in Los Angeles, California and grew up primarily in Orange County. I was my mother's second daughter and both my sister and myself were raised by my mother's parents. At a very early age, my grandfather gave me a subscription to a magazine full of poetry with beautiful shiny pictures. I loved it and believe they had a great influence on me. My sister and I were complete opposites, she being very outgoing and I being very inhibited. I loved music, especially country and would never miss listening to The Grand Ole Opry on the radio. I sang as long as I can remember for my own amusement and entertaining my close relatives with Buttons and Bows. A friend of mine took me under his wing and encouraged me to go to modeling school to get over my shyness. I then surprisingly became a fashion model for a few years. In my early 50s, the first song came to me out of the blue and they've been coming ever since. I was 80 when I met the great Doc Holiday, my producer and promoter, and he is the one that encouraged me to speak the words and speak them from my heart. They are from my heart, and if these words and messages lift up, encourage or help even one person, that makes my life worthwhile.
